Originally from Montreal, I’ve been living in Dunham since 2015. I grew up mostly in Toronto and Montreal, but also lived in England and Ottawa for a few years as a kid. I’ve worked for over 25 years teaching English language and literature in cegep and university. I’ve also worked as a carpenter, a nurse’s aide in psychiatry, and on the floor of the Montreal Stock Exchange. In my spare time I like to forage for wild mushrooms, renovate old buildings, build furniture, chop wood, fart around, study markets and macroeconomics, practice martial arts and make lists.
Originaire de Montréal, je vis à Dunham depuis 2015. J’ai grandi principalement à Toronto et Montréal, mais j’ai aussi vécu en Angleterre et à Ottawa pendant quelques années quand j’étais enfant. J’ai travaillé pendant plus de 25 ans à enseigner la langue et la littérature anglaise au cégep et à l’université. J’ai également travaillé comme menuisier, aide-soignant en psychiatrie et sur le parquet de la Bourse de Montréal. Dans mes temps libres, j’aime cueillir des champignons sauvages, rénover de vieux bâtiments, fabriquer des meubles, couper du bois, niaiser, étudier les marchés et la macroéconomie, pratiquer des arts martiaux et faire des listes.
My Role as a councillor
I’ve been a town councillor in Dunham’s District 5 since November 2021. I love meeting my neighbours and doing what I can to help the community.
Officially, I’m only a town councillor during council meetings. Outside of those meetings, I have no official power, nor do I have a say in how the city is managed or run. I am, however, a full-fledged citizen who can talk to and get feedback from other citizens and councillors to prepare for Council meetings. I can also always talk with Pierre Janecek (our mayor) and Francis Bergeron (the Director General of Dunham), if I have any concerns, suggestions, or questions. When I sit on committees or on town commissions, like all other committee members, I have a consultative role; any recommendations made by the committee can only be acted on by Town Council during Council meetings.
When I am in City Hall for a Council meeting, I exercise my power by voting for or against resolutions proposed by the administration or the Council. I prepare for these votes by gathering information and assessing the costs and benefits for all residents of the city.

Je suis conseiller municipal pour le district 5 de Dunham depuis novembre 2021. J’aime bien rencontrer mes voisins et faire ce que je peux pour aider la communauté.
Officiellement, je ne suis conseiller municipal que pendant les réunions du conseil. En dehors de ces réunions, je n’ai aucun pouvoir officiel et je ne peux pas intervenir quant à la gestion ou à l’administration la ville. Cependant, je suis un citoyen à part entière qui peut discuter avec d’autres citoyens et conseillers pour préparer les assemblées du Conseil. Je peux aussi toujours parler avec Pierre Janecek (notre maire) et Francis Bergeron (Directeur général de Dunham), quand j’ai des préoccupations, des suggestions ou des questions. Lorsque je siège à un comité ou à une commission de la ville, comme tous les autres membres du comité, j’ai un rôle consultatif ; les recommandations formulées par le comité ne peuvent être mises en œuvre que par le conseil municipal lors des réunions du conseil.
